Local experience at Amphawa Weekend Floating Market

What To Expect

Let's begin your trip by catching the Maeklong train as it passes through the Maeklong Railway market. Witness the scene unfold as the train approaches and the vendors start pulling back their stalls, canopies, and wares to make room for this train to squeeze through the narrow market. The Maeklong Railway open market sits right upon an active railway, which makes it distinct and attractive to curious visitors.

Then, we will drive to Amphawa floating market, where you will see hundreds of paddle boats selling Thai traditional food along the river. Grabbing a bite to eat is recommended and many of the waterborne boats will be preparing and selling a plethora of foods to feed the hungry market goers.

When the night falls, we'll board the motorboat to take a trip through the backwaters to Amphawa Floating Market. The motorboat route will take you along the rivers and waterways while observing traditional Thai ways of living.

If you are lucky enough, you will get to see hundreds of fireflies lighting up the night like twinkling stars!

Love this region!!! A lot of non-touristy spots to explore and unique experiences that only a true local knows. We enjoyed the sampan boat ride so much and the tasty seafood as well. Highly recommend if you want to have a different view on the life of Thai villagers.

This is the (mostly) local version of the floating markets near Bangkok. If you want to get a sense of the old and Thai version of these markets, visit this one. Very few tourists come here, and the night boat ride to watch the fire flies in the trees is a unique experience. You will find many authentic souvenirs here, and the atmosphere is just... Read more

Love this place, it’s very cool with lots of little shops, restaurants and bars. If you go in the evening do not expect a floating market like you see in brochures. The shops are on land apart from a few boats selling BBQ squid but it goes along the river so it is really cool with the lights. Place to buy lots of Thai junk or Thai crafts. Some... Read more

It's one of the best place near Bangkok to visit! It's full of foods, attractions, vintage decorations, and you won't see a lot of foreigners. Our guide was a native as well, he not only showed us around but he also told us about his childhood stories, which is very interesting!

Still have question?

How do I book on Inspitrip?

For most experiences on Inspitrip, there are two options: Small Group and Private tour. For both options, you can chat with your local guide and other people in your group even before the trip takes place.
  • Small group tour: operates with a maximum number of people. If you like to make new friends, this is a great option. You would pay for the trip to confirm your slot, then join a chat group with your local guide as well as fellow travel buddies, everything would be on Inspitrip. Get to know them!
  • Private tour: maximizes your privacy and allows you to freely customize the itinerary. First, request to communicate any specific needs you may have, wait a couple minutes for these requests to be confirmed, and then you can proceed to payment.

What is the cancellation and refund policy?

Cancellation is free if you cancel up to 48 hours before the trip date. We believe that this is the fairest way to ensure that both our travelers and local guides are happy.

Does the Small Group option still operate if there are less than the maximum number of people signed up?

Yes, even if you are the only person who signs up for the trip on a given date, the tour will still take place.

My question is not listed here. What should I do?

Check our Frequently Asked Questions page or you can also email us at team@inspitrip.com. We are happy to help!
