Things to do in Hong Kong

Half-day historic walking tour

  • 3.5 hours in total

  • Entrance fees included

  • Pick up at a designated meeting point

What To Expect

The tour kicks off from Sheung Wan where, at Possession Point, the British first took Hong Kong. Witness the extreme urbanization of Hong Kong as you stand on this site that was once part of the shoreline, but is now very much inland. You will then walk the Sun Yat-Sen historical trail and see where the founding father of Republican China went to school, had his medical training, established the Revive China Society and plotted the revolution against the monarchy.

You will then head towards the old administration center of Victoria City (as Hong Kong was then called), including the Central police station, the Magistracy and the Victorian Prison Compound. Afterward, you'll see the Fringe Club, housed in the colonial Dairy Farm Building, and famous for its alternative performances and displays by up-and-coming artists. Stroll down the Duddell Street Steps, passing old-fashioned gas lamps as you head to some of Central's landmarks, including the Legislative Council building, the Cenotaph, Statue Square and the Court of Final Appeal Building.

Stop to admire the Anglican Church St. John's Cathedral, the oldest Anglican church in the Far East and the only freehold building in the city. Stroll to nearby Hong Kong Park to see the beautiful Flagstaff House, the one-time residence of the Commander of the British Forces in Hong Kong, and now home to an impressive display of antique teaware.

Next, keep moving to the new Government Headquarters Complex where the ministers, the legislators, and the civil servants overlook the city's famed Victoria Harbour. You will also see the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre which is famous as the place where the 1997 Hong Kong sovereignty hand-over ceremony took place. This popular spot is an ideal place to end this walking tour in Hong Kong, so you can choose to explore the busy waterfront further or head back into the center of the city.

Still have question?

How do I book on Inspitrip?

For most experiences on Inspitrip, there are two options: Small Group and Private tour. For both options, you can chat with your local guide and other people in your group even before the trip takes place.
  • Small group tour: operates with a maximum number of people. If you like to make new friends, this is a great option. You would pay for the trip to confirm your slot, then join a chat group with your local guide as well as fellow travel buddies, everything would be on Inspitrip. Get to know them!
  • Private tour: maximize your privacy and allows you to freely customize the itinerary. First, request to communicate any specific needs you may have, wait a couple minutes for these requests to be confirmed, and then you can proceed to payment.

What are the cancellation and refund policies?

Cancellation is free if you cancel up to 48 hours before the trip date. We believe that this is the fairest way to ensure that both our travelers and local guides are happy.

Does the Small Group option still operate if there are less than the maximum number of people signed up?

Yes, even if you are the only person who signs up for the trip on a given date, the tour will still take place.

My question is not listed here. What should I do?

Check our Frequently Asked Questions page or you can also email us at team@inspitrip.com. We are happy to help!
