What To Expect

This Daintree day tour from Port Douglas will give you a remarkable journey to explore the spectacular landscapes of two World Heritage listed sites – the magical Daintree Rainforest and its abundant flora and fauna and the world famous Great Barrier Reef. Join our guided bushwalk along the rainforest and see up close a wide variety of Aussie native species in their natural habitat with a local expert!

Your local guide will meet you at your hotel lobby at around 7:30 in the morning and take you out to our first stop of the day - the beautiful Mossman Gorge. You will get to experience the peaceful morning of the area because the Gorge is the first place absorbing all the sights and sounds of the forest and birds in the morning. Your local guide will give an introduction to the rainforest here while taking you on a walk along the new aerial walkway.

Next, head along the Captain Cook Hwy through the township of Mossman and pass the cane fields up to the mighty Daintree River. Here, take a break to enjoy the morning tea including the great Aussie Lamington and a cruise along the river enjoying the riverine landscapes and its wildlife. You may even see a snake laying on a branch of a tree, a green tree frog and of course the Estuarine Crocodile.

After the cruise, it is off towards the Cape Tribulation, where the “Rainforest meets the Reef”. Time is allowed for a guided walk along the beach or to the Alexandra lookout, an area steeped in history which will all be explained, by your knowledgeable local guide.

After leaving Cape Tribulation, travel to our very own Daintree Hideaway, a private lunch site surrounded by a rainforest stream and the wild sounds of the forest to have your authentic Aussie lunch. After the lunch, you can walk along a rainforest trails to truly get real insight into the world's oldest living rainforest. This is a fascinating area with longstanding history and amazing natural species, including one of the largest birds in the world, the Cassowary.

Make a stop at the famous Daintree Ice-cream Company where you are offered a tropical fruit ice-cream on our way to the stunning Cassowary Falls. Here, we will jump into our soft top Land Rover for a 4wd ride along the tracks and through the creeks of “River home” cattle property towards the falls. The waterfall has featured in the past in T.V. shows, so as you can imagine, it is a very special location.

The best way to conclude our memorable Daintree exploration is to go for a swim, feed the fish and turtles, or just sit back and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Take this chance to admire the mesmerizing sunset over the famous Great Barrier Reef before heading back home to Port Douglas.
