Bike historic Ayutthaya with local guide

  • 11 hours in total

  • Lunch included

  • Pick up at your hotel

What To Expect

Explore historical Ayutthaya by bike. Arriving from Bangkok to Bang Pa-in, start cycling to Ayutthaya and pedal through the ancient city before returning to Bangkok in the late afternoon. This bike tour runs in Bangkok.

Escape the city for a fun and educational ride in the ancient capital of Siam. We explore the back-streets of Bang Pa-in riding past one of the royal palaces.

After crossing the Chao Phraya River by ferry we cycle through the back lanes and riverside settlements up to historic Ayutthaya. Approaching from the south, the bike tour will swing around the bottom of the island, passing by several of the very early historical sites such as Wat Phutthai Sawan and St. Joesph's Church.

After visiting the breathtaking Wat Chai Watanaram, we'll stop for a riverside lunch. After lunch it's time to cross the river and explore the city's ancient monuments. A bike is one of the best way to see the sites at Wat Loke, Wat Phrasrisanphet, and Wat Mahathat. Finally we take a van back to Bangkok from Ayutthaya.

Itinerary

Pick up from your hotel within Bangkok centre area.

Come to the trail station and depart with bicycles in tow. Travel time to Bang Pa-in will be 1.5 hours depending on traffic.

Disembarking in Bang Pa-in we will ride from the historic railway station through the backstreets of the town past the royal palace. A large cargo ferry will take us across the scenic expanse of the Chao Phraya River from Bang Lane to Bang Paeng.

Riding north towards the island of Ayutthaya, we will cycle through back lanes of the communities along the banks of the Chao Phraya River with our destination being Wat Phutthai Sawan.

Facing the Chao Phraya river and the ancient capital on the opposite bank, Saint Joesph's Church was built by French missionaries in 1666. Wat Chai Watanaram is one of Ayutthaya's most famous sights, a 16th century temple where the king performed religious ceremonies.

Sitting on the western edge of the city, we will enjoy a delicious lunch on the banks of the Chao Phraya with a scenic view of the Sri Suriyothai Park and the ruins of the royal palace.

Crossing over to the island of Ayutthaya our cycling tour of the Ayutthaya Historical Park begins with our first stop at Wat Lokayasutharam's dreaming reclining Buddha.

The next stop is Wat Phrasrisanphet which was the prototype temple for the Temple of the Emerald Buddha.

For the last stop we cycle to Wat Mahathat. This is the temple with the famous image of the head of the Lord Buddha cradled by a strangler fig. The temple has a large gallery hall with destroyed Buddha images.

Return to Bangkok. From start to finish this is an 11 hour trip.

Notes

  • Depending on the speed of the group more or less time will be spent at each place

  • We recommend you use some sun block or, if you prefer a natural option, sun sleeves for your arms and Buff headwear for your neck

Still have question?

How do I book on Inspitrip?

For most experiences on Inspitrip, there are two options: Small Group and Private tour. For both options, you can chat with your local guide and other people in your group even before the trip takes place.
  • Small group tour: operates with a maximum number of people. If you like to make new friends, this is a great option. You would pay for the trip to confirm your slot, then join a chat group with your local guide as well as fellow travel buddies, everything would be on Inspitrip. Get to know them!
  • Private tour: maximizes your privacy and allows you to freely customize the itinerary. First, request to communicate any specific needs you may have, wait a couple minutes for these requests to be confirmed, and then you can proceed to payment.

What are the cancellation and refund policies?

Cancellation is free if you cancel up to 48 hours before the trip date. We believe that this is the fairest way to ensure that both our travelers and local guides are happy.

Does the Small Group option still operate if there are less than the maximum number of people signed up?

Yes, even if you are the only person who signs up for the trip on a given date, the tour will still take place.

My question is not listed here. What should I do?
